Nats beat Marlins, rain

After a long day of delays and sloppy conditions, the Nationals have earned a victory. Leading the Marlins 7-2 in the bottom of the ninth, they were awarded the win by crew chief Tim Welke after the afternoon’s second massive storm struck Land Shark Stadium.

John Lannan earned his first win since Aug. 5 with five strong innings. Pete Orr crushed his first homer since June 7, 2006. Ian Desmond continued to shine, going 2-for-5 and making a nifty play in the field.

And in the most stunning development, the Nats actually managed to capture the weekend series in this house of horrors. They entered 0-6 this season at this ballpark but won Friday and today to salvage a series victory.
