A federal government shutdown could cost the District millions of dollars in revenue, disrupt services and close museums and other tourist attractions.

“I would say there’s a 50 percent chance it happens. I’ve also heard it’s not going to be done.”
— Du Nguyen, Capitol Hill, student

“I don’t think they’re going to shut down everything just for that, but it might happen. There are so many tragic things happening right now that have to do with funding and money.”
— Cathy Fraley, Southeast, dietary aide

“I don’t think there’s going to be one. I think they’re just bluffing.”
— Mike Johnson, Northwest, unemployed

“It’s happened before, I think it could happen again. But I hope it doesn’t happen. It will end up costing more money than it saves.”
