Took care of the defense yesterday, and there’s no reason to run through quarterbacks for the second time in an hour.
So here’s the word on offense in the middle of Maryland’s camp.
Tailback: Looks like it will be Da’Rel Scott. The sophomore has done well, and was also helped by another injury setback (albeit a minor one) for Morgan Green. Davin Meggett is No. 2 for now, but chances are Green will get some looks eventually.
Fullback: The Terps are set at fullback for the next two years barring injury. Both Cory Jackson and Haroon Brown are plenty useful. Redshirt freshman Taylor Watson wasn’t going to play much anyway, but he sure isn’t helping himself frolicking on a stationary bike while wearing a green jersey at practice.
Tight end:Dan Gronkowski starts here. Tommy Galt and Lansford Watson will factor in. No real change.
Wide receiver-X: Straight from Ralph tonight: Isaiah Williams, Adrian Cannon, Torrey Smith, Tony Logan.
Wide receiver-Y: The slot receiver looks like it’s Danny Oquendo, followed by Ronnie Tyler. If the Terps really do rely on a lot more 8-yard precision routes, Oquendo could enjoy a fine season.
Wide receiver-Z: Again, straight from Ralph tonight: Darrius Heyward-Bey, LaQuan Williams, Quinton McCree, Emani Lee-Odai.
Left tackle:Scott Burley and Bruce Campbell will both play.
Center: Edwin Williams will be playing quite a bit. Walk-on Danny Edwards is listed as the backup, though Costa is a better bet to slide over from right guard if something happens.
Right guard: It looks like a timeshare between Costa and Jack Griffin.
Right tackle:Dane Randolph will start, and Paul Pinegar is the listed backup. While he’s a true freshman and unlikely to play this year, R.J. Dill sounds like he might be a keeper at right tackle in the long term given his success at transitioning from playing in a wing-T in high school to a more 21st century offense in college.
