Maryland and the JV

Turtle Sports Report’s Seth Hoffman asked a particularly interesting question of Ralph Friedgen tonight: Would he schedule any junior varsity contests this year.

Turns out Ralph already has.

Maryland has scheduled JV games for the Mondays leading into its open dates against North Carolina Tech (Oct. 6) and Fork Union (Oct. 27).

It would mean a lot to Friedgen to get some of his younger players into competitive situations, especially as the season grinds along. He tried to do the same thing last year, but injuries forced him to zap those plans.

A bonus of the Fork Union visit is a chance for 2008 Maryland signees Cody Blue and Zach Kerr to play a game in College Park.
