A quick rundown of the number changes on Maryland’s roster heading into game week:

* No. 15 – Austin Walker. The Original Hog’s son switches from No. 18, which is worn by safety Kenny Tate. Walker is the only guy with a chance to play with 15 this year; the academically ineligible Drew Gloster also has claim to it.

* No. 25 – Dan Bonato. The walk-on tailback shifts from No. 47, which is also worn by special teamer Jeff Clement. The other 25 is wideout Kevin Dorsey, a true freshman who was due to undergo foot surgery this week.

* No. 36 – Paul Lariviere. The fullback moves up a digit and leaves 35 all to punter Travis Baltz.

* No. 51 – Aaron Ball. The Terps already moved Ball to locker No. 51. Now, he has the jersey to match. This was probably prompted by No. 41 Davin Meggett’s emergence at tailback.

* No. 53 – Hakeem Sule. The linebacker was sharing No. 46 with fullback Steve Pfister. Not anymore. The other No. 53 is another walk-on linebacker, Stephen Hargett.

* No. 64 – Tim Downs. The reserve long snapper vacates No. 59, which is worn by freshman Demetrius Hartsfield.

* No. 81 – David May. The top backup at kicker wore the same number as the top backup holder (Jamarr Robinson). Note the past tense.

* No. 87 – Webb Dulin. The redshirt freshman gets a number worthy of a wideout (and one all his own), vacating No. 27.
