Kenny Tate played on special teams, as did tight end Matt Furstenburg.

So the redshirt-or-not-to-redshirt watch will continue for defensive tackle A.J. Francis and Demetrius Hartsfield, as well as the longer-term possibilities (Devonte Campbell, Cameron Chism and Justin Lewis).

Maryland, by the way, used three true freshmen in last year’s opener, punter Travis Baltz, tackle Bruce Campbell and safety Dominique Herald. Only one other freshman – fullback Haroon Brown – played last season.
