It’s Media Day in College Park, beginning with a high-noon meeting between Ralph Friedgen and the press.

No, it won’t be a Wild West-style showdown. But there will be microphones. And television cameras (in multiples for probably for the only time until game week). It would not make for a great Michael Bay production.

I mention Bay because he’s one of Darrius Heyward-Bey’s favorite directors. The Washington Post’s Steve Yanda takes a look at the junior wide receiver’s adjustments for this season.

So what does Friedgen forsee in the future for his program. He told the Baltimore Sun’s Jeff Barker he’d like to emphasize more rivalry games, add helmet decals for achievement and redo the team locker room.

Another interesting idea: Trying to draw more people to Terrapin Alley before the game by bringing back old lettermen to walk in before the team. Having watched fairly tame crowds line up to watch a few times last year, it certainly couldn’t hurt.
