Sophomore Dominique Herald is suspended for the Aug. 30 season opener against Delaware for a violation of team rules. Friedgen said Herald is expected to move back to safety from linebacker.

* Freshman Kenny Tate was moved from wide receiver to safety. That’s a wild first day on the job. Friedgen said Tate will have the option to move back after this season, but the fact is Maryland has a glut of receivers. He might beat all of his fellow freshmen wideouts onto the field.
