Just wrapped up a basketball story for the dead-tree edition. Thankfully, it does not provide a riveting account of precisely what Maryland must do against Delaware State tomorrow.

Now it’s on to football, where Ralph Friedgen’s team is practicing in a steady downpour. This was one of the last times this year the opportunity to watch practice existed. Between the rain and the basketball work, it was pretty easy to pass.

Friedgen and friends should be done in another half-hour or so, and if things went well the team will probably have Saturday off before returning for a Sunday session. With that in mind, chances are players will be in reasonably good spirits today.

In case it’s worth mentioning, 19 days and counting until the Humanitarian Bowl. And despite the snarky comments about Boise, chances are slim it can be a more unpleasant place to be than College Park is today.
