Memphis had absurd success on the offensive glass, scoring 16 second-chance points. There were spurts here and spurts there, but the one constant was Memphis’ ability to collect tip-ins. Shawn Taggart has 14 points, 10 off his own offensive rebounds.

Memphis holds a 28-15 rebounding edge, and has 14 offensive rebounds to Georgetown’s 10 defensive rebounds. Think Hoyas coach John Thompson III mentioned that at the break?

One thing going against the Hoyas heading forward – senior guard Jessie Sapp already has three fouls. All of Georgetown’s starters played at least 15 minutes in the first half, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Memphis can just wear the Hoyas down unless the tempo slows a bit in the final 20 minutes.
