BOISE, Idaho – A full eight months and change before the first game of next season is no time to offer up a realistic look at a starting lineup for that time.

But there will be plenty of idle time in the next couple days, and there’s nothing wrong with a little educated guesswork. Sure, injuries, improved play, and the emergence of a freshman or two could easily change the look of this.

So too would some early departures, which will unfold (if they unfold at all) in the next two and a half weeks. The solution to that problem is to mention both guys who have put in for the NFL advisory panel (Darrius Heyward-Bey and Anthony Wiseman) and then list their likely replacement next season should they depart.

Consider this a conversation starter rather than a serious glance at 2009, and a precursor to some of the reflection on the season sure to come here in the next week or so. So here’s the guesswork to begin some thinking before Sept. 5 arrives.
