ANNAPOLIS – It could be bowl berth day in Nap Town, and with nothing better to do than sit around and watch listen to Original Hog praise Virginia linebacker Jon Copper with his prestigious label of “caveman,” it meant a trip to Navy for my first look at the Midshipmen this season.

Navy (5-3) can finish off its run to six wins – and EagleBank Bowl eligibility – with a victory over Temple.

Speaking of the Owls, they’re 3-5 and stuck playing seven of their first 10 games on the road. Get this one, and 2-6 Kent State, 2-7 Eastern Michigan and 4-4 Akron are up next – and so is a realistic chance to actually win the MAC’s Eastern Division.

(Also speaking of Temple, I just had a travel roster handed to me. All the more reason to like Al Golden’s crew).

OK, more coming later, as well as some musings from around the country – especially as the early games start to come to a close.
