ANNAPOLIS – It’s already a good day for Navy’s football team, and kickoff is still more than 20 minutes away.

With Air Force knocking off Army 16-7 in West Point, the Midshipmen are assured of retaining the Commander-In-Chief’s Trophy for a sixth consecutive season regardless of the outcome of the Dec. 6 Army-Navy game.

Navy already has a victory in the three-team round robin, winning 33-27 at Air Force last month. And since an even split means the previous year’s winner keeps possession of the trophy, that means the Midshipmen won’t giving up that piece of hardware any time soon.
