Just got a release from the folks at the Maui Invitational, who offer up this tidbit:
Louisville, which figured to be one of the headliners of the ‘09 tournament field, wanted to move their trip to Hawaii to 2012 for “administrative and scheduling reasons.”
Maryland, you might recall, will be in that event next season.
So in place of the Cardinals will be Cincinnati, which has struggled the last couple seasons as Mick Cronin has rebuilt what was left after Bob Huggins‘ ouster a few years ago.
So the updated field consists of Arizona, Chaminade, Cincinnati, Colorado, Gonzaga, Maryland, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin – with brackets obviously several months away from coming to fruition.
