The Raleigh News & Observer’s J.P. Giglio asked what made for a highly entertaining question of Virginia coach Al Groh during this morning’s ACC conference call.
So as not to steal the man’s thunder entirely, be sure to look in on the ACC Now blog Giglio heavily contributes to.
Anyway, he brought up that Virginia hasn’t lost in Charlottesville to North Carolina since 1981, which is an unusually long streak for schools that at times have been fairly evenly matched. So he asked Groh if that mattered.
I started transcribing Groh’s gem of a reply a little late, but this pretty much covers it even if a word or two is missing somewhere:
“None whatsoever,” Groh said. “That’s great to fill columns. It would be pretty irrational for us to read into that as to how Marc Verica makes his reads or Hakeem Nicks gets off the jam.”
