Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe just got done his portion of the ACC teleconference, and its a segment that’s always fun to listen to.

Grobe is cordial and insightful, and he knows what he’s doing. That’s a winning conversation in any walk of life.

One bit of news to pass along was that he discussed kicker Sam Swank a bit. The senior is tied for fourth in ACC history with 326 points, and still has a chance to catch former Maryland kicker Nick Novak (393 points) on the career scoring list.

Trouble is, he has a strained right quadriceps that cost him last week’s game against Clemson. And Grobe said today, “We might not have him for Maryland.”

That would pretty much fall into the definition of questionable, which is how Swank is listed. But it doesn’t sound like there’s much movement in either direction, and that means it isn’t certain whether one of the conference’s top scoring weapons will be available.
