There are three names to keep in mind if the secondary is going to have a different look going forward for Maryland.
2. Nolan Carroll
Coach Ralph Friedgen indicated Carroll will likely be back at cornerback after the bye, which is both expected and needed. But both Chism and McCollough could be the answer in the great search for an extra cornerback.
Chism’s status remains the same, which is to say still trying to get good enough to play on defense.
“He played in the JV game and he did some good things in that game,” Friedgen said. “He’s going to be a good football player. It’s just what’s his learning curve right now. He’s a true freshman, and we’re like in calculus and he’s in remedial math. We have to get him caught up.”
As for McCollough, the Terps are trying him out at cornerback, which would make the junior the most versatile defensive back on the roster.
