OK, quick hitters between stories.

First, kicker Obi Egekeze missed a 27-yarder, and Ralph Friedgen said that situation will either result in a change or at least an open competition.

When you start missing 27-yarders, it’s clear it’s more mental than physical. Egekeze, by the way, is 0-for-5 on the season and has missed six straight since the Emerald Bowl.

Meanwhile, Friedgen said tailback Da’Rel Scott probably has a sprained shoulder. He was told Scott could have returned, but would have been at risk for missing a week or two if he got hit funny again. So that’s a subplot we’ll watch this week. Best guess here: If there’s any threat of a longer-term injury, Maryland will hold Scott out next week against Eastern Michigan.

Gotta get back to writing. More to come later on.
