Just wanted to pass along the ACC’s players of the week, as voted on by a geographically diverse group of writers throughout the conference.

Offensive back: QB Thaddeus Lewis, Duke (25-35-317, 3 TD)
Offensive lineman: C Thomas Austin, Clemson (Team had 428 yards total offense, no sacks)
Defensive lineman: LB Brett Warren, Virginia Tech (15 tackles, forced fumble)
Defensive back: LB Vincent Rey, Duke (12 tackles, 4 TFL, sack, fumble return for TD)
Specialist: K Jay Wooten, North Carolina (3 FG – 43, 29, 27, 5 XP)
Rookie: TB Darren Evans, Virginia Tech (19-94, TD)

Maryland had some guys have nice games – Chris Turner, Dave Philistin and Moise Fokou all come to mind, as does Davin Meggett in the rookie category. Someone else in the league just happened to better at each position this week.

But since I’m not above tossing a little red meat to the fans, here’s a bit of meaningless trivia: Boston College, Maryland and Virginia are the only schools in the league without at least one honoree in the first three weeks.
