Apparently, this question came up some place during the season opener: Davin Meggett scored in his first game, so who was the last Maryland player to do that?

Sometimes, this sort of research requires some tedious grunt work and a sense of enterprise that permits you to sift through box scores from before you were born.

And sometimes, it requires you to look back to just after you graduated college.

That was the case here.

Josh Allen did not play in Maryland’s first three games of 2002, but rushed for 86 yards and a score in garbage time against Eastern Michigan.

Allen, by the way, finished his career with 1,958 yards (10th in school history) and 21 touchdown runs (tied for seventh among all Terps).
