Egekeze breaks through

Well, that couldn’t have worked out much better for Maryland.

The Terps blocked a punt (their first since Josh Wilson had one in the 2006 opener) and brought it back to the Eastern Michigan 10. Then, the Terps stalled and got Obi Egekeze a chip shot to snap his 0-for-5 funk to start the season. Egekeze was promptly mobbed by teammates.

Ralph Friedgen probably wasn’t happy to settle for three points rather than seven. But given the circumstances, it isn’t an awful outcome.
