Loyal reader BuddhaUMD did something that doesn’t happen much.
He wanted a rundown of a statistic I should be tracking but am not.
That would be third-down performance by receiver. I already keep track of down-by-down data for quarterbacks, but it makes sense to do the same for wideouts – especially on third down.
So with some time to kill here at the Gossett team house before the Tuesday presser, here’s a chart delineating the targets, receptions, yards and first downs converted for each of Maryland’s receivers this season.
The least surprising part of the chart: Danny Oquendo has a first down on every third-down reception this season.
The mildly surprising part of the chart: Ronnie Tyler has the most third-down targets, although it isn’t a huge shock since he’s used as a slot receiver much like Oquendo.
