The gem on Maryland’s nonconference schedule is a BB&T Classic date with Villanova.
The Wildcats reached the Final Four last year, and bring back Scottie Reynolds (among others) in the backcourt and might just be the favorites in the Big East.
They’ll also play the fall semester without Reggie Redding, who was suspended today (per Fox Sports).
Redding started 22 games and averaged 7.1 points and 4.9 rebounds in 28.8 minutes, so his absence isn’t minor.
And, yes, Maryland’s Dec. 6 game against Villanova will be part of the suspension.
A basketball season is filled with breaks, good and bad. Even if this doesn’t change the fact Reynolds and the Coreys (Fisher and Stokes) will still be on hand to create their share of headaches, this is at least a slight break in favor of Maryland’s bid for an upset at Verizon Center.
