Maryland’s decision to contest its first scrimmage on its practice field rather than in Byrd Stadium prompted a legitimate question.

Will the Terrapins make it into Byrd during the preseason.

Turns out Maryland will indeed scrimmage there on Saturday.

And Ralph Friedgen, ever aware of the need for new revenue sources, offered up a new pitch for his program.

“Writers only get in if they buy a suite,” Friedgen joked.

Or, at least I think he was joking.

But if he isn’t, that’s a sure-fire way to close the scrimmage without actually closing it – even if it means folks like me won’t see a defense that slices and dices and cleans up its own mess.
