Greivis Vasquez talked so much earlier this season about recording triple-doubles on a nightly basis.

Well, he’s not Oscar Robertson. But he came oh-so-close to getting one last night.

The junior was stuck on nine assists when he fed a fastbreak pass to Adrian Bowie. But his former Montrose Christian teammate was fouled while going up for a layup.

So Bowie went to the foul line for some game-clinching free throws. And Vasquez finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists.

“It was my pass,” Bowie said. “I mentioned it to him, too. I didn’t know it was going to be that. It’s tough. It was my fault.”

Bowie didn’t seem too broken up about, smiling as he recounted the closing seconds of a much-needed victory. And judging from his on-court reaction – smiling broadly as he walked to the other end of the floor – Vasquez wasn’t upset about it, either.

Funny just what winning fixes.
