Lots of losing among top teams this week.

Lots of it.

Duke, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, Michigan State, Texas … all lost this week.

But a team worth mentioning in this rundown is Saint Mary’s.

The Gaels lost point guardPatrick Mills to injury this week. They also lost to Gonzaga (no shame) or Portland (not exactly a titan).

So Saint Mary’s goes from No. 19 to not even in the top 45. And that’s because Mills is what makes the Gaels a team worthy of consideration.

If he returns in another month, don’t be surprised if Saint Mary’s suddenly reappears after a victory or two. But for now, it’s tough to see the Gaels as a team worthy of rankings consideration.
