Years from now, when Maryland fans think back and recall Dave Neal, odds are they’ll remember the screen he set on Duke’s Nolan Smith last night at Comcast Center.

Duke fans will probably remember, too, especially if Smith’s absence for an indefinite period proves costly.

Smith, you might have guessed, suffered a concussion after running into Neal. And it would be a bit of a surprise if he plays Saturday at Virginia Tech.

So both teams will be feeling the effects of this one for a while; Duke because it won’t have a backup point guard, and Maryland because it didn’t cash in on 34 good minutes for another money victory in the season’s closing stretch.
