Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen said there’s a decent chance he’ll make his special teams assistant hire next week.

He emphasized recruiting was a major part of the job, which opened when Danny Pearman left for Clemson in December. He also said Brian White, who coordinated the special teams and tight ends for the Humanitarian Bowl after working with Maryland as a grad assistant, remains under consideration.

“He still is,” Friedgen said. “I’m kind of waiting to see if I lose anyone else from my staff. That could have a factor in who I hire, too. I think we’re solid right now. I don’t anticipate anyone leaving.”
