ANNAPOLIS – Checking in from Alumni Hall, where Holy Cross brought in a starting front line that stands 6-6, 6-8 and 6-9.

That’s bigger than Maryland, by the way. It’s also bigger than Navy.

So if ever there was a time for Mark Veazey to play well, it was tonight.

And, oh boy, the sophomore is playing well.

With Adam Teague, O.J. Avworo and Clif Colbert all floating into foul trouble, the Midshipmen needed someone to be a viable offensivce option. And Veazey has 12 points (5/5 FG, 2/2 FT) to go with four rebounds and two blocks.

It’s little secret Veazey can make the Midshipmen a legitimate Patriot League contender rather than a likely midpack team that will get a home game in the conference tournament and little more. Against Holy Cross (one of two unbeatens in the PL along with American), Veazey is providing the perfect boost.

Chris Harris has nine points and Teague eight for Navy, which hasn’t gotten Kaleo Kina going just yet. Of course, Navy has 12 assists on 12 baskets, so more is going right than just Veazey’s impressive half.
