There are times to ask nuts-and-bolts questions, such as “Is Jerome Burney healthy enough play?”

Postgame on Saturday was not one of those times.

But this afternoon surely was.

“He’s practicing. He could play, you know?” coach Gary Williams said. “We could throw him in there tomorrow night.”

Burney dressed Saturday for the first time since Dec. 7, the result of a stress fracture in his right foot.

At this point, the Terps could certainly use someone with Burney’s size and athleticism, but for now conditioning has to be seen as a major issue.

“I would say that would be the biggest problem, how long he can go,” Williams said. “And mentally, when you have a foot injury, when you jump you don’t to be thinking about how you’re going to come down. I remember when Terence Morris was hurt here, that was his biggest thing coming back. He broke his foot in the summertime and that year, it bothered him a little bit as we got into the season. Hopefully, he can help us as time goes by here.”
