Halftime has arrived at Comcast Center, where Maryland has yet to lead this afternoon.

It was only a matter of time before Maryland found itself in the middle of a truly tight game again. And the 49ers, thanks to some solid outside shooting, have made things miserable for Maryland early on.

In particular, RaShad Coleman has 17 points for Charlotte and also the most comical moment of the night. Moments after he airballed a free throw – and was informed of his poor shot by Maryland’s students – he swished a 3-pointer and brought his finger to his lips to shush the crowd. Well played, sir, especially when you’re up 41-38.

Greivis Vasquez had 13 points for Maryland, but of note is the work of Sean Mosley (eight points) and Cliff Tucker (six points). Those are the sorts of bursts Maryland is going to require from those guys in the near future.

At this point, they can score all they want, but if Maryland doesn’t improve its perimeter defense (Charlotte is 7-for-14 from the 3-point line), this is going to remain a dicey situation for the rest of the afternoon.
