There will be plenty of time to dissect Maryland’s 66-65 loss to Morgan State.

But one thing stood out to me while watching – Maryland got nothing from its bench.

Well, nothing is a wee bit too harsh. Sean Mosley did have a basket. But for the Terps’ four reserves to toss up the following line is not encouraging heading into conference play:

1-12 FG, 0-1 3FG, 10 rebounds, 6 fouls, 2 points, 0 assists, 6 turnovers, 1 block, 1 steal, 33 minutes

Granted, the Terps’ starters could and should have played better as well. But Maryland needs more than five guys to contribute, and tonight that simply did not occur.

For the most part, Dino Gregory’s court time has coincided with above-average play. The rest of the available reserves really can’t say the same. If Maryland wants to be an NCAA tournament team, that absolutely must change.
