End Q1: Virginia 6, Johns Hopkins 1

ANNAPOLIS – A wise man (or maybe just an idiot savant) once said you can’t score if you don’t have the ball.

Johns Hopkins is demonstrating that here at Navy.

Virginia is handling things after a quarter, up 6-1. The Cavaliers scored six goals in the final 10 minutes of the first, with Hopkins having possession for all of 1:55 in that stretch.

The Cavaliers are prodding a vulnerable Hopkins defense, finding the perfect matchups to exploit.

There’s already been a highlight-worthy play – Garrett Billings‘ behind the back goal late in the first quarter off a Steele Stanwick feed.

Things are already ugly for Hopkins, and it seems unlikely they’ll get much better before the afternoon is through.

– Patrick Stevens
