FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – This had the chance to be a great day of lacrosse.
Instead, it pretty much stunk.
Two lousy games – decided by a combined 19 goals – have set up the first all-New York final (Syracuse-Cornell) since 1988.
This is one Virginia is going to wonder about for a long time. When the Cavaliers lost in overtime in last year’s semifinals, they did so in a game that had tossup written all over it.
In this case, Virginia lost to a team it beat earlier this season and shouldn’t have lost to by nine goals.
So bring on the Genny Bowl (hat tip to the New York Times’ Pete Thamel for that name). It’s got to be more watchable than what unfolded today.
