Just checked in for an update on Navy’s NCAA tournament first round game, and it turned out the Mids were down 6-0 to Duke.

Well, now it’s 7-0. And it’s just early in the second quarter.

It goes without saying that Duke is good enough that it probably won’t get outscored by seven against anyone over a 45-minute stretch.

And it’s no secret Navy isn’t exactly an offensive juggernaut.

So the season almost certainly will end in Durham, and it will mark the Mids’ first true opening-round skunking since 1999.

OK, now it’s 8-0.

It’s pretty certain that nothing has gone right for the Mids, who needed all the serendipity they could muster just to squeeze into the field for the sixth straight year. Clearly, none of that good fortune found its way into May.
