Today’s USA Today has a real treat – lots and lots of college football salary data.
At that particular link is a story with this little nugget that Maryland fans will no doubt be curious about:
Maryland offensive coordinator James Franklin and defensive coordinator Don Brown each had buyouts from their respective contracts at their prior schools paid by Maryland - $51,500 to Kansas State for Franklin, $25,000 to Massachusetts for Brown.
Given that Maryland’s assistants all make at least in the very low six figures, the $76,500 needed to pry the two coordinators away is a fair chunk of change.
For anyone interested, coach Ralph Friedgen’s salary in 2008 was $1,877,095.
