Considering Maryland won’t be receiving AP votes at any stage this season (assuming it doesn’t simply win out), there hasn’t and didn’t seem to be much of a need to track the weekly polls.

Well, Navy is now 5-2, with understandable losses at Ohio State and Pittsburgh and are two victories away from locking up their annual bowl trip.

The Midshipmen also have four points in this week’s AP poll, all allocated by Ray Ratto of the San Francisco Chronicle. Ratto has Navy at No. 22 (thanks, as usual, to Pollspeak for the sorted data).

There appears to be some sense to this, since Ratto ranks Pittsburgh at No. 14, higher than any other voter.

How high can the Mids climb? Tough to say, but a loss to Wake Forest on Saturday will probably zap any chance of a stealth top 25 appearance this year barring a victory in South Bend next month.
