About ready to write a dead-tree edition story on the quarterback situation for tomorrow, but just wanted to pass along some notable bits from the day.

* Punter Travis Baltz is probable with his ankle injury, while tailback Gary Douglas (shoulder) is questionable.

* Morgan Green moved up from the scout team this week with Douglas injured.

* Coach Ralph Friedgen said the only remaining true freshman he can envision using is D.J. Adams – though obviously injuries could force a quarterback like Danny O’Brien into the fray.

* Torrey Smith said last week was the first time anyone seriously approached him about being used for direct snaps.

* Friedgen said players remained upbeat last night upon returning to practice, and reiterated his fondness for this year’s team.
