Just in from Navy beat writer Mike Fratto …
Navy practice is closed on Thursdays, but a team spokesman said quarterback Ricky Dobbs did not practice, meaning sophomore Kriss Proctor will make his first career start Saturday against Wake Forest.
Dobbs was hurt on the second play against SMU last week, but played through the pain. He felt stiffness in his leg after the game and again after Monday’s practice. An MRI revealed Dobbs has a bone crack on his right kneecap, and he has sat out practice since Tuesday sporting a brace on his right leg.
Dobbs was hoping to practice Thursday so he could start on Saturday. He had started all seven of Navy’s games this season.
