Running down the contracted partners for the Dec. 29 EagleBank Bowl at RFK Stadium. …

* Army (3-5) was idle this week. The Black Knights still must win three games in the final third of its schedule. Those four games are against Air Force, VMI, North Texas and Navy.

* The chances of there actually being an ACC No. 8 improved this week.

While Maryland, N.C. State and Virginia face some steep odds to get bowl eligible, a few other teams look like better bets.

Florida State is now 4-4 after winning its second straight game. Duke and North Carolina are 5-3, and both need to get to seven wins to become eligible. Toss in Boston College, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami and Virginia Tech, and things certainly look better than a week ago.

ACC teams with 4+ victories: 9
ACC teams with .500+ records: 8
Bowl-eligible ACC teams: Boston College, Georgia Tech and Miami
Current projected teams on the board for the EagleBank Bowl: Duke

Meanwhile, nothing has changed a whole lot with the backup tie-in of Conference USA’s East Division, though Marshall can become bowl eligible with a victory against Central Florida tomorrow.

Conference USA East teams with 4+ victories: 4 (Southern Mississippi, Marshall, Central Florida, East Carolina)
Conference USA East teams with .500+ records: 4 (Southern Mississippi, Marshall, Central Florida, East Carolina)
