Maryland is done two-thirds of its spring practice.

One thing new coach Randy Edsall seems sure of is incumbent quarterback Danny O’Brien.

“I’ve liked everything I’ve seen about Danny,” Edsall said. “He’s a great kid, a talented guy, a good worker and a student of the game. He has all the things I’m looking for in a quarterback. The thing I like is he got off to a little bit of a rough start and the spring, but he’s gotten more comfortable with what we’re doing. He’s come along nicely in the last five or six practices. You can see him getting comfortable.”

Two weeks ago, Edsall hinted last year’s ACC’s freshman of the year was getting pushed by backup C.J. Brown. There was an obvious reason for that: Everyone was starting from scratch in terms of learning the Terps’ new offense.

O’Brien, it would seem, has ironed things out.

“I knew that would happen based on being around him and talking to him, …” Edsall said. “He wants to know it all. He’s a sponge. I couldn’t be any more happier with how he’s progressing.”
