Sophomore cornerback Avery Graham has moved to Maryland’s Star linebacker spot, coach Randy Edsall said Tuesday during the Terrapins’ media day.

Graham will back up Kenny Tate at the linebacker-defensive back hybrid position.

Graham played in seven games a year ago, making 12 tackles.

Edsall said Graham was lining up at the position for some formations, and this move puts him under the purview of one coach.

The Star spot is filled with former defensive backs. Tate was a starter at safety last year, while Mario Rowson and Desmond Kearse were also recruited as defensive backs.
