Want to know who might carry the ball for Maryland this season besides Davin Meggett (and returning goal line back D.J. Adams)?
It’s a question without an obvious answer yet.
“That’s one of the things that I think is a tremendous competition going on there, at running back, to see who is going to be the backup,” coach Randy Edsall said Saturday. “I know who the starter is going to be: Davin. There’s tremendous competition there in the backup role.”
Among the options: Redshirt freshman Jeremiah Wilson and true freshmen Justus Pickett and Brandon Ross.
A place in the backfield isn’t the only possible use for some of the inexperienced backs. Both Ross and Wilson received looks on the kickoff return team during Saturday’s open practice at Byrd Stadium.
