Maryland will meet Alabama in the first round of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off on Nov. 17, according to a tournament bracket released today by ESPN.

The Terrapins (19-14 last season) will play either NIT champion Wichita State or Colorado in the event’s second day. Iona, Purdue, Temple and Western Michigan are on the other half of the bracket.

The date with Alabama will tip off at 5 p.m. and be televised on ESPN2. Maryland will play at either 6:30 or 9 p.m. on Nov. 18.

Alabama went 25-12 and lost to Wichita State in the NIT title game. Maryland is 3-0 all-time against the Crimson Tide.

Colorado was 24-14 last season and reached the NIT semifinals. The Buffaloes are coached by Tad Boyle, a former assistant under new Maryland coach Mark Turgeon.
