Defensive end Quinton Jefferson wasn’t with Maryland when it reported to camp on Monday and won’t arrive until next year.
Jefferson, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound freshman from Pittsburgh, has a “medical issue” will effectively take a grayshirt and not arrive until the spring semester.
“Quinton is not going to be with us in the fall,” coach Randy Edsall said after his team’s first practice. “Quinton had a medical issue after he went back home, so he’s not going be coming until January. He’ll enroll in January.”
Jefferson was the No. 25 player in his class in Pennsylvania, according to Rivals.com.
