GREENSBORO, N.C. – Updating a story from earlier this afternoon, Maryland senior team manager Justin Zawitoski arrived back at the Greensboro Coliseum in time for the Terrapins’ ACC tournament quarterfinal against Duke on Friday night.

Zawitoski left this early morning to fly home to Baltimore to attend the funeral of his grandmother, who died last week after suffering a broken hip in a fall.

He returned to Raleigh on a Southwest Airlines flight, and in a plane with the Maryland state flag painted on it, no less. He said the flight crew made a special request to allow Zawitoski and his family to be allowed to deplane first while explaining the situation, prompting his fellow passengers to cheer.

Zawitoski arrived at the arena about an hour before the opening tip and will handle his usual managerial duties tonight, ensuring he fulfills what he considers both of his sets of responsibilities in a hectic day.
