ATLANTA – Maryland linebacker Kenny Tate sat out Saturday’s 21-16 loss with an undisclosed injury. He participated in pregame warmups with his right leg wrapped.

So did Tate have much of a chance of playing?

“Not really,” coach Randy Edsall said. “Just watching him through the week, he had a situation from last week. Then through the week from a practice standpoint determined and the doctors determined that he was doubtful. You just didn’t see anything that would allow you to put the young man out there. We’re not going to put a young man out there unless he’s completely healthy because his health and welfare is more important than just trying to win a game.”

Mario Rowson made seven tackles in his first career start in place of Tate at Maryland’s Star position.
