Time for a review of some mostly brutal predictions heading into Temple’s 38-7 dusting of Maryland …

1. Temple tailback Bernard Pierce will run for 120 yards (barring injury).

SEE RELATED:

CORRECT. As productive as he was, the Owls’ star rushed for “only” 149 yards on 32 carries – a day that included a school-record five touchdowns.

2. Temple won’t get to 200 yards passing.

CORRECT. But it wasn’t because of ineptitude. Owls quarterback Chester Stewart was 9-for-9 for 140 yards, but Temple saw the need to throw only once in the final 25 minutes thanks to the comfort of a 31-0 margin.

3. Kevin Dorsey will catch a touchdown pass.

INCORRECT. Dorsey had five receptions for 61 yards, but did not catch Maryland’s lone touchdown.

4. Kenny Tate will make some sort of big play – sack, interception or forced fumble.

INCORRECT. Tate quietly wound up with five tackles, his fewest since recording one in Maryland’s throttling of Morgan State early last season.

5. Maryland will pull away in the second half to win by two possessions.

INCORRECT. Instead, Maryland was down four touchdowns a little more than 20 minutes in and didn’t score until 4:31 remained in the game.

TEMPLE RECORD: 2-for-5
SEASON RECORD:
11-for-15
