Maryland coach Randy Edsall said Sunday senior wide receivers Quintin McCree and Ronnie Tyler are reinstated from their suspensions and will play Saturday against Towson.
Both players were suspended Sept. 15. Tyler was charged with second-degree assault that day by campus police after an early-morning incident in College Park. Police said McCree was present during the incident but did not charge him.
Tyler had six catches for 43 yards and a touchdown in Maryland’s season-opening defeat of Miami. McCree had seven receptions for 39 yards against the Hurricanes. Both players were on the field for warmups but did not dress for Saturday’s 38-7 loss to Temple.
Maryland (1-2) has lost both games McCree and Tyler missed.
“They’re back with us,” Edsall said. “They’ll be starting this week. I sat down and told them what they expectations are. They know exactly where they stand and how I feel. I told them ‘You’re getting a second chance and there won’t be a third chance. Don’t let yourselves down, don’t let your families down and don’t let me down.’”
