Maryland center Alex Len’s status remains uncertain for Wednesday’s game against Duke.

Len suffered a right ankle sprain in Saturday’s 73-60 loss to Temple.

“I don’t know yet,” coach Mark Turgeon said. “He did not practice yesterday. He is going to give it a shot today. He’s still sore. We’ll know more after practice today where we are with Alex. Obviously, we need him. We need his length and fouls for tomorrow night. I’d hate for him to miss this game because every time our young kids can play in a big game – and every game’s a big game – but an environment like tomorrow night helps us for the future.”

Len is averaging 7.8 points and 6.0 rebounds in eight games since becoming eligible. He has a combined eight points and 13 rebounds over his last four games, and logged seven scoreless minutes Saturday before departing to the locker room. He returned to the bench after halftime with ice draping his right ankle.

“It’s in all the right spots if you’re going to have one,” Turgeon said. “It’s not high and it’s not inside. You just have to toughen up and hopefully the adrenaline will get going and he’ll be able to play.”
